ShipX 2.3

ShipX is a professional software suite for naval architecture and marine hydrodynamics developed by MARINTEK (now part of SINTEF Ocean). It supports ship designers, yards, operators, and consultants in predicting and improving vessel performance from early concept through detailed engineering. ShipX focuses on seakeeping and operability in real seas, helping users quantify motions, wave-induced loads, and performance limits to make safer, more efficient design and operational decisions.

Key capabilities include:

• Hydrodynamic analysis of vessel motions and responses in waves (RAOs and related response metrics)
• Assessment of operability, comfort, and performance in specified sea states and routes
• Estimation of wave-added resistance, speed loss, and related performance impacts
• Hydrostatics and basic hull form evaluations to support early design choices
• Reporting and visualization tools for decisions and documentation

The software draws on established potential-flow methods and decades of MARINTEK/SINTEF research and validation. It integrates into typical design workflows, with interfaces for common geometry and data formats, and is suitable for a wide range of ship types and offshore vessels.
